When I moved into my new apartment, I searched the internet endlessly for a bright and colorful outdoor rug for my balcony. The summer and spring is when I would spend most of my time out there so I wanted it bright and cheerful.
It was during my search that I discovered recycled plastic outdoor rugs. They are everywhere if you just search for them. Not only are they moderately priced but they are also insanely colorful and virtually dirt resistant.
I purchased mine, that looks much like the one above, for only $30 on ebay.com. It spans the length and width of my entire balcony and the cool thing is, you can flip it over and have slightly different color shades.
The rug feels like durable plastic but does not feel too hard on bare feet. They honestly brighten up any area and allow you to pull in various colors when decorating your outdoor space.
I have a small space, so I am limited as to how many items I could bring in. My boyfriend and I purchased a two seat bar table from Loews but quickly learned we wanted more seating for entertaining. We both work near each other and one day we met for a lunch at a sandwich shop. The shop at various metal stools for seating that could easily stack in a corner. I knew we needed a pair for our balcony.
I purchased a pair of two high orange ones to tie in with the rug. My balcony is covered so I don’t need to worry about rusting. They look great, are sturdy, come in a variety of colors, and stack easily.
I ordered mine from Wayfair.com and they were delivered already put together and stacked on top of each other. I literally just opened the box and put them out.
There was a tag sale in the factory across the street where I was able to buy two outdoor wooden lanterns with candles for $20.00. They were originally white but I painted them yellow to add to the colorful vibe. I DO NOT recommend spraying painting them like I did. It would have been easier to use actual paint.
In the end, I am now obsessed with my outdoor space… Just in time for Fall. I want to take advantage of it as much as I can and the vibrant decor just makes me even happier. 🙂
